Our Customers

CeDAR supports most of the University's administrative offices and departments through the Information Warehouse and COGNOS, Tableau, training, education and consulting. In the Information Warehouse, each of the individual data marts are managed by a Package Custodian (see Access and Use Data) who is responsible for both the reports and data in the data mart and the security required for access. Package Custodians also work with us to identify potential new sources of data and work with other Custodians and Data Stewards when disparate sources of data need to be combined.

With the acquisition of Tableau, many new customers have started to work with CeDAR staff to create reports, dashboards and other data analysis and visualization objects. To support both the existing group of customers, as well as this new and growing population, CeDAR provides a comprehensive set of training, education and consulting opportunities. We are always available to meet with continuing and new customers to help them find solutions to their problems, questions and issues. There is never a charge for any of these services. With the impending purchase of a metadata management tool, we hope to make available all the data collections and business definitions of data in those collections in the Warehouse. This will enhance our customers' ability to better understand their own data as well as providing a roadmap for Princeton staff to see what data may be available to them in a secure and managed environment.

There are more than 3500 university staff who currently receive reports from the Warehouse and approximately 160 customers can create both queries and reports. In addition, there are now 60+ members of the university community who own Tableau desktop licenses.
